A new chapter was written in the legend of Jacoby Ellsbury last night. Jacoby has yet to ride a twister or drill through a mile-long mountain... but he's young. Give him time. The legend of Jacoby's amazing speed started when he was a teenager. Even at such at young age, Ellsbury knew he was fast, and his friends did too, so they challenged him to chase down a deer that lived in the woods behind his Oregon home.
"When I was younger, me and my brothers were just messing around, and there was a deer in our backyard," said Ellsbury, who grew up in Madras, Ore. "We were just joking about wanting to catch it. They kind of went in back of it, chased it toward me, and it kind of got close to me. I took off, roped the deer, and that's the true story."
That was the beginning of Ellsbury's story. Last night he added a chapter by accomplishing one of the most exciting feats in sports - stealing home plate. Here's the video:
