A young John Connor squeaked out those words in Terminator 2 after Sarah Connor carved them into a picnic table before running off to kill the creator of Skynet before he could build robots that would eventually destroy the human race.
Sarah had a shot an changing the future and managed to pull it off in the end... but noboy told her how to stop the creation of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.
I digress...
Clay Buchholz could "make his fate" tonight with a spot start against the Blue Jays.
The Red Sox are telling us that Buchhy is starting tonight so that the rest of the staff can enjoy one moe day off and ease back into everyday play. But I wouldn't be surprised to hear that this is really a chance for the Sox to showcase Buchholz to the rest of the league, in the hopes that it will cultivate some trade opportunities.
It may also Clay's chance to prove that he can win at the big league level... enabling Theo and Co. to feel better about trading Brad Penny with Matsuzaka on the DL.
Buchholz has a 7-2 record and a 2.36 ERA with Pawtucket. He's allowed just 67 hits and fanned 89 in 99 innings of work. He did falter a bit in his last start (7/12) allowing 4 runs on 8 hits through 5 1/3 innings, but with Iexpect him to be locked in tonight.
Josh Beckett is rooting for Clay to do well and offered some sage advice for his fellow Texan:
"To me, an executed pitch that gets someone out at Triple A is going to get someone out in the big leagues, too," Beckett said. "That's the best advice I got coming up..."
Bottom Line: If Clay mows 'em down tonight "Ahhnolsd style" he could earn himself a longer stay in the bigs, either with the Sox or with another team.
If he falters, the Sox will likely send him back to Pawtucket with a hearty handshake and an invite to come back in September.
I filled in for Dan at Red Sox Monster this week while he gets married, so click over to RSM for my full preview of the Toronto v Boston series.
