The Blue Jays may be sitting in 4th place in the AL East, but they lead the majors in ding dongs with 178.

Three of those came last night, but the Red Sox went toe-to-toe with the power-hitting Jays and Mike Lowell's dinger in the 8th, put them up for good. The Sox jumped out to 3-0 lead, Matsuzka coughed that up in the third with two walks and a homer from Adam Lind. Travis Snider and the league's No. 1 home run hitter, Jose Bautista, would also go deep, but the Sox kept pace with a homer from Drew and Lowell's go ahead home run in the 8th.

Matsuzaka didn't give us the quality start we were looking for (5.2 IP, 6 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, 7 K) but the offense picked him up... something we haven't see much of lately.

Another sight for sore eyes? The bullpen.

Felix Doubront gave had a big K to end a threat in the 6th. Manny Delcarmen pitched a clean 8th, spelling Daniel Bard and Paps grabbed his 29th save.

The Yankees lost in extras, but the Rays pounded the Tigers, so the Sox sit 5 GB in the East and 4.5 GB in the wild card race.
